Thomas G Akre, DO

Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Akre specializes in general orthopedics and sports medicine. He has been an orthopedic surgeon for over a decade in the Michiana area.   In addition to treating patients in our office Dr. Akre goes to the following facilities – St. Joseph Regional Medical Center (Mishawaka), Memorial Hospital, Allied Physicians Surgery Center and Unity Surgical Arts. Surgical procedures include, but are not limited to, arthroscopy, total joint replacement, and peripheral nerve decompression.

  • Sports Medicine – Arthroscopy: shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee and ankle including ACL reconstruction, meniscal repair, rotator cuff repair and labral repair.
  • Total Joint Replacement: shoulder, knee, and hip including unicompartment knee replacements.  Dr. Akre has performed over 170 anterior approach total hip replacements since 2011.
  • Fracture Care
  • Peripheral Nerve Decompression: including carpal tunnel release, ulnar nerve transposition, tarsal tunnel release and other peripheral nerve releases. Trained at the Institute for Peripheral Nerve Surgery, www.dellonipns.com

Randall I. Kline, D.P.M

Board Certified Podiatrist

Dr. Kline specializes in injury, wound and diseases of the foot and lower leg. He has been in the Michiana area since 2000.  In addition to seeing patients in South Bend, he also see patients in Nappanee. Dr. Kline takes time to get to know his patients and work with them to determine the best and most effective course of treatment. If surgery is needed, Dr. Kline has privileges at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, and Allied Physicians Surgery Center. Dr. Kline also see patients at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and Memorial Hospital of South Bend Wound Care Centers.

Richard E. McClain, Jr, D.O.

Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. McClain is a general orthopedist specializing in sports medicine and total joint replacements. He has been practicing in the Michiana area since 2002.  His training in arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery allows him to provide innovative and less invasive treatments. Dr. McClain performs surgeries primarily at St Joseph Regional Medical Center – Plymouth Campus in addition to Bremen Community Hospital.

Prior to his medical training he served on active duty with the U.S. Navy as a carrier aviator.

Dr. McClain and his wife reside in Syracuse, In.  He has undergone knee and shoulder surgery so he understands what it means to be a patient

Cheryl Stahl, FNP-BC

Cheryl is a nurse practitioner at Allied Bone and Joint. She works closely with Dr. Akre and Dr. McClain to provide patient care in both office locations. She is very involved with the patient visit, assessment and treatment while in the office. In addition, she spends much of her time educating our patients on upcoming surgeries, treatment plans, and recovery expectations.

Cheryl joined Allied Bone and Joint with over 3 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Physical Medicine and Rehab as well as Orthopedics. She has been a Registered Nurse since 1998 with the majority of her time as a Charge Nurse with the Allied Physician Surgery Center. Her ability to interact and assess our patients helps to put them at ease about their visit, surgery or procedure.

Cheryl and her husband have 3 adult children. She resides with her husband in Mishawaka.
